MRI for dense breast tissue already saves lives’

About one in twelve women has dense breast tissue, with relatively many glands in the breast and little fat. In these woman, tumors are much harder to see on a mammogram. This is particularly problematic because these women have up to twice the risk of breast cancer. Breast cancer can be detected earlier by having additional MRI scans performed on women with dense breast tissue as part of the population screening.
